Aversan was responsible for the turn-key product development of the Wideband Interface (WIF) for a Tier-1 supplier. The WIF is a system that allows the selection and operation of either a Wideband Global Satellite (WGS) modem or a Commercial Modem within the client’s wideband satellite terminal.

Aversan partnered with a world-class EMS for the production and manufacturing of the WIF, and our responsibilities included:

• Product design

• Hardware development

• Software development

The WIF is added to minimize hardware and software changes to the present commercial system components. It utilizes an integral Ethernet interface that allows communications for control of internal operations and functions. The WIF is based on a commercial configuration but is modified to utilize the higher frequencies and more stringent specifications of a WGS capable terminal.
